Our client had successfully tendered the First stage of the design and build framework contract for the refurbishment of their premises across the UK. The works involved a wide scope of works ranging from small HVAC modifications to full scale refurbishments of the courts and administrative offices.

The Challenge

Due to the complex and continuously evolving development associated with the Global Covid-19 pandemic, the client required each scheme to be fully designed, planned, procured, and delivered to site in approximately 12 to 16 weeks.

Result

As Bakers Constructions Services had been involved with numerous similar schemes in the past 5 years, we were able to easily rely on our already developed processes and procedures. This allowed us to quickly assess the key risks at each stage for each scheme.

As an example, due to the fast-paced nature of the pre-construction programme some design elements were incorrect, however as we had already implemented our processes, we were able to rectify the errors before they were included in the final designs.

This then enabled us to provide accurate commercial advise resulting in the successful submission of the Second stage tender submission on time.
